A lifelong resident of West Des Moines, Iowa. He has been a film producer since 2008 where began his career focusing on documentaries about the residents of Valley Junction, now known as
West Des Moines. Mexican, Italian, Serbian and Polish immigrants were a few of the groups of people who helped to build what is now West Des Moines along side a prominent community of African
Americans.

Valdez has been producing documentaries since 2008 for the Des Moines Art Center’s Day Of The Dead celebration honoring Hispanic Americans who have contributed to the community. He has also
created documentaries and promotional video projects for the Taste of the Junction, Historic Valley Junction Foundation and the Des Moines Botanical Gardens.

His film, Heroes Around The Corner, is a recognition of some of the Mexican Americans, primarily from Des Moines and West Des Moines, who served in the armed forces of the United States since World War II.
